from the genius team at J.Crew, whom I fall more in love with every time I see a new catalog.

I will admit, when I love something I love it. This holds true in all facets of my life but especially in fashion and style. There are some people and things I just cannot.get.enough.of. Ginnifer Goodwin happens to be one of those. I'll admit this is a total steal from Slaves to Fashion but I just couldn't resist. Like other PYTs Diane Kruger and Rachel Bilson, I just pine to know what these girls are wearing.

I am all about appropriate bottoms, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the Prada fall collection didn't catch my eye in a very, very good way. Wearable it is not, but if you're gonna do pantsless, this is the way to do it folks
So these are examples for mothers (?!) of how to freshen up their looks. I'd like to freshen up my young-girl-in-the-city hair with any of them as well, so bravo to Cookie for that. These girls are totally beautiful and all have covetable hair

Unbeknownst to me until a dear friend of mine let me know, it's national punctuation day! So much going on lately, with the arrival of autumn and all. Above is an example from the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwritting (IAMPETH for us philistines).
Continuing my love of the New York Times (and apparantly black and white photography), one of my favorite images ever, posted along with a great video on The Moment. Sam Haskins is one of my favorite fashion photographers and has done some beyond-amazing work in his long and illustrious career - shooting for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, New York, and Allure. He was recently in town to promote a new book, called "Fashion Etcetera," the first in nearly twenty years. An exhibition is on view at Milk Gallery through October 26
Lauren Santo Domingo, wearing the Chloé scalloped shorts I've been coveting since the day I first laid eyes on them.
There's a lovely article about Chanel in the Thursday Style section of the New York Times. They say 2009 has been a banner year for the designer, with the recession causing people to really identify with her true rags to riches story. I don't know about all that, but obviously I'll take all the information I can get."She's the ultimate Gatsby character," said Rhonda Garelick, a professior of English at the University of Nebrasks, and the author of a forthcoming Chanel biography, "Antigone in Vogue."Well there's something I can agree with (and visualize)
Joe Zee on Elle.com did a lovely slideshow and story about some hip young bloggers around town. Among them are writers from perennial favorites like Fashionista and Sea of Shoes. Below are a few of my favorites, but definitely check them all out here

There are people who have such strong style that it's hard to image how anyone else gets dressed in the morning. Tonne Goodman, fashion director of Vogue, is one such person. She once described how to traveled to the European collections twice a year with not only just a carry-on, but with literally less than 20 items in her suitcase. She always, always wears variations of black, navy, gray, and white and couldn't look better if she was wearing couture.
I've been waiting years to find the perfect calendar - well, at least until I can afford the over sized leather Smythson one I've wanted since I was 15 - and I search high and low every year to find one that accommodates my unique writing needs (i.e. large, loopy, and all over the place)

I wish I wish I wish I could just jet on over to merry old England to attend this exhibit. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the last court presentations in 1958, it will be shown on display until January 2010 at Kensington Palace."Visitors experience the bewildering rules of etiquette, dizzying schedule of presentations, cocktail parties and dances and they will have the chance to be schooled in the art of the perfect curtsey."Um, count me in, please.
Today was the first truly crisp day in New York - and it didn't come a moment too soon as far as I'm concerned. Autumn has always been my favorite season, and pulling out those (black) cashmere turtlenecks and scarves felt wonderful. It does mean no more peppy little ensembles like the ones above, but I've always been more of a navy/black girl anyway
This is beyond. J.Mendel, the fabulous famous furrier, branched out into RTW ("ready to wear" for those of you don't spend your days with hundreds of these look-books stacked around your office) a few years ago and hasn't look back
Looking at Diane Kruger, it seems as though there's a lot to be jealous of. Former dancer, turned Chanel muse, turned Joshua Jackson (!) loveboat, she's seemingly got it all - and I certainly agree. Here she is doing lingerie and ladylike, looking pristine in typical fashion.

The loveliest little sketches from various American designers (which, did you hear, is going to be the theme of next year's Costume Institute exhibit? Oprah Winfrey and Patrick Robinson will be chairing the "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" gala). It'll be really amazing to see the sketch become a reality. . .
